At 5:37 this morning, I awoke to the sound of those damn birds pecking at the side of our house again. Man were they loud. And then someone started an unbalanced load in the washing machine, or maybe the boys were jumping off the top bunk upstairs. These were my thoughts somewhere in that place between sleep and waking. I finally woke up when John sat straight up, jumped out of bed and said “What is that???”. I think I told him it was the birds. But the bed kept shaking, so I had to get out of it too. As quickly as it started, it stopped again.
How crazy that a 5.2 earthquake in Vincennes, IN shook our 100 year old house in Cincinnati??? Even crazier was the fact that John got back in bed and fell asleep as if it was nothing. My brain can’t settle after such things. Natural disasters always serve to remind me of what a small spec of dust I am on this huge rock floating in space. Let’s all try to be nice to each other today. You never know…
